Das Grundgefühl dieses Songs geht weit in eine Zeit zurück, in dem meine Welt aus einem 75.000 Einwohner Nest im Sauerland bestand und die Unendlichkeit eines Bahngleises den Weg hinaus in die große Welt bedeutete. Immer wieder saß ich in der Nähe eines Bahndamms und jeder vorbeifahrende rostige Güterzug war der Inbegriff von Endlosigkeit, Freiheit und Unabhängigkeit für mich.
Verbotenerweise da sitzend und noch verbotener rauchend, ging ich in meiner jugendlichen Vorstellung davon aus, dass der Typ in der Lok irgendwie den ganzen Tag nur den Gleisen folgte und morgens nicht wusste wo er abends schläft. Und genau das hatte für mich definitiv etwas mit Rock`n Roll zu tun. Instinktiv wusste ich aber auch das wenn ich das will, frei zu sein, unabhängig und irgendwie endlos, wird es ein langer Weg.
Wie bei jedem anderen auch gab es Tage in meinem Leben an denen ich mittendrin stand in meinem “Paradise” und Tage an denen es so weit weg war wie es nur irgendwie ging. Eins was mich die Gleise und meine Vorstellungen von einst gelehrt haben, ist das alles was Du willst in Dir ist. Du musst es nur einfach machen.
